The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for construction of 117.7 km long Kanpur-Kabrai Access Controlled Greenfield highway. The four-lane bridge and other structures will be designed keeping in mind the future six lane. This is a very important milestone of the Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor under the National Highways Programme.

The project, with an estimated total capital cost of around INR 7145.14-crore, will be implemented by NHAI on BOT basis. In addition, the operation and maintenance of the existing Kanpur-Kabrai section of NH-34 will also be carried out in a similar manner.

The project will provide faster connectivity between Kanpur and Kabrai, besides providing seamless connectivity to Sagar, Bhopal, and other parts of Madhya Pradesh.

The project will also connect with NH-34, NH-35, Bundelkhand Expressway, Kanpur Ring Road, and State Highways SH-46, SH-91, SH-10B and SH-42. Besides, the corridor will also be connected to the mining belt of Kabrai, which will facilitate faster movement of minerals, industrial goods, construction material, and agricultural goods.
