Plant will start production of Inter-City Trains very soon: Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Multipurpose Railway Rolling Stock Manufacturing Unit, Kazipet Railway Generating Unit of Indian Railways, is soon to be completed, the Railway Minister, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw said recently. The plant at Kazipet will initially produce 200 Intercity Trains in the next five years.

The Railway Minister and Minister of State for Railways, Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu recently reviewed the plans for operationalization of Kazipet Railway Generating Unit with senior officials.

These trains will be deployed for short distance travel across the country, covering a distance of 300 km. These inter-city trains will be similar to the shuttle service connecting adjacent cities all over the country, and will have modern features like automatic doors, better ventilation, and design. Each coach shall have two toilets, one at each end.

In addition, these inter-city trains will have modern, bump-less couplers and coaches. These trains will also have regenerative braking facility. The trains are being manufactured to run at a speed of 130 Kmph.
