The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved Phase 2(A) of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. Under this, a 6.032 km long corridor with five stations (four elevated and one underground) will be constructed. After the Phase 2(A) operationalization, a total of 77.63 km of active metro rail network will be established between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

The five stations under this Phase 2 (A) corridor are Ashram Road, Koteshwar Ancient Temple, Sabarmati River, Sardar Nagar, and Airport. The total cost of the project including Interest on Construction Period (IDC) will be INR 2,169.04-crore.

A new metro corridor of about 6.032 km will be developed under Phase 2(A) of Ahmedabad Metro Project. This phase aims to provide seamless connectivity to major areas including residential and commercial hubs with the existing Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar corridor. Along with this, the possibility of developing sports facilities in the area in view of the World Police Games 2029 and Commonwealth Games 2030 has also been envisaged.
