The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a new marine highway from Rameswar to Paradip in Odisha through two stage packages based on Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The total length of this highway is 160.18 km and the capital expenditure is expected to be INR 8,300.79-crore.

The section of the new coastal highway from Rameswar to Paradip passes through the districts of Khurda, Puri, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur of Odisha and is a part of the existing Golden Quadrilateral network of NH-16.

The projects proposed include a 4-lane with Rameswar to Konark passing through the districts of Khurda, Puri, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur in the State of Odisha, and a two-lane with paved shoulder (Package-2) from Konark to Paradip, which will ensure a speed of 100 kmph and improve travel.
