Doubling domestic output of cobalt, cadmium, and copper to serve India's energy transition and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Runaya Metsource Limited (Runaya) is
expanding its critical metals production platform with new capacities under
execution for cobalt, cadmium, and copper, alongside other base metals and
their compounds. Runaya currently operates fully commissioned facilities in
Rajasthan with installed capacity of over ~70,000 tonnes per annum, converting industrial
residues into a portfolio of critical and base metals.
As part of its growth strategy, Runaya is expanding
its capacity at Zinc Industrial Park in Rajasthan. Building on its existing operational base, the new expansion positions Runaya to scale
into a multi-critical metal production platform, creating a cluster-driven
ecosystem in India while supporting local job creation.
Cobalt, cadmium, and copper are foundational inputs for
energy storage, EV systems, power grids, renewable energy infrastructure,
electronics, and data centres. Scaling domestic production of these metals
through advanced processes, such as solvent extraction, directly supports
India's critical minerals mission and reduces import dependence in sectors
vital to the country's industrial future.
Naivedya Agarwal, Managing Director, Runaya, said, "With current operations and additional capacity, we are creating a cluster-driven large-scale, value-added manufacturing ecosystem. This growing scale supports long-term domestic security across energy, mobility, electronics, and advanced manufacturing, while delivering sustainable value.”
