Increases the existing Indian Railways network by about 134 kms.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by
the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Ahmedabad (Sarkhej) –
Dholera Semi High-speed Doug Line Project of Ministry of Railways. The total
cost of the project is around INR 20,667-crore. This will be the first semi-high-speed
project of Indian Railways based on indigenous technology.
The project will provide faster connectivity between
Ahmedabad, Dholera SIR, upcoming Dholera Airport, and Lothal National Maritime
Heritage Complex (NHMC). Connecting Ahmedabad to Dholera will reduce travel
time and make same day return journey possible.
The project is based on the PM-Gati Shakti National
Master Plan, with a focus on integrated planning and enhancing multimodal
connectivity and logistics efficiency through consultation with stakeholders.
Covering the Ahmedabad district of Gujarat, the
project will augment the existing network of Indian Railways by about 134 kms.
