India has achieved highest ever annual capacity
addition of 6.05 GW in wind power during 2025-26. In the financial year
2016-17, it was 5.5 GW. With this increase, India's cumulative installed wind
power capacity has crossed 56 GW.
These figures represent a nearly 46 per cent
increase in India's wind power capacity over the growth in FY 2024-25, indicating
a decisive momentum in the construction of offshore wind projects. States like Gujarat,
Karnataka, and Maharashtra have been major contributors to the capacity
addition during the year.
